From the Recreation Ground in Dursley we could her the Samba band as it led the Parade through Dursley. It seemed to take ages, but then they appeared at the entrance. The entrants trooped through, all kitted out with their themes of The Natural World.
The 1st Dursley Scout Group had decided to focus their theme on The Weather. There was Sun,Wind (including broken umbrellas), Sunshine, Rain (lots of clouds and more umbrellas), not to mention the gruesome Lightning under which was what appeared to be Death. Fortunately the REAL weather stayed mainly sunny and warm.

The judges obviously enjoyed them as much as all the other spectators as they awarded the Group with 3rd prize.
Meanwhile, the parents and helpers had put up the large tent and were serving teas and cakes to everyone. There was also a big red London Bus that was used to display the photos of past achievements and successes whilst trying to encourage more youngsters to join Scouts.
Cherry (Maggie) was making friendship sticks with the Beavers and any other youngsters who came aboard.
All in all the day was a huge success and everyone enjoyed themselves immensely. Many thanks to everyone who helped to make the day a success.
