Beavers Visit to Henlow Court May 11

1st Dursley Beavers are becoming regular visitors to the residents of Henlow Court. Having had a most enjoyable visit to sing Christmas Carols, the children were invited to return and sing some Easter songs. Unfortunately the residents of Henlow Court were poorly just before Easter, so we had to return in May. This did not interfere with the enjoyment for the 1st Dursley Beavers… or the residents.  The children performed a trio of Easter Songs including, “Here comes Peter Cotton-Tail” and “Give me oil in my lamp”, before performing Wordsworth’s lovely “Daffodils” poem, and presenting the residents with paper daffodils they had made during a craft session at a previous Beaver Scouts evening.

After this there was squash and biscuits for all and a sing-a-long join in session between the children and the residents of old favourites including, “My Grandfather’s clock”, “You are my sunshine” and “Skip to my Lou”.  The children talked with the residents until it was time to go home.

Everyone had a happy time and certainly from the perspective of this 1st Dursley Scout leaders, this was a tremendous success in encouraging younger children to talk and share with our older Dursley generation.  We’d like to thank all the staff at Henlow Court for making us so welcome and for encouraging the children in their continuing positive relationships with the residents of Henlow Court.
