Slimbridge Car Wash
Saturday 2nd April 2011
Every Saturday morning the carpark of Slimbridge Wildlife and Wetlands Trust is full of people who have come from all over to watch the birds and learn about the ecology of the Wetlands. On an overcast Saturday morning in April however the carpark was also the home to the 1st Dursley Scouts car wash. Beavers, Cubs and Scouts all came out to help raise some money for the group and make sure that people left with clean shiny cars.
In all 14 Beavers, Cubs and Scouts with help from Mums and Dads and Siblings came out and between them cleaned over thirty six cars in four hours, raising over £210 for the scout group. With most of the customers filling in a Gift Aid form the total amount will rise considerablely.
Some of the younger members were there for the full four hours which is a very commendable achievement for such young members of the scout group. Despite all of this hard work, there was still time for everyone to have some fun and enjoy themselves, including the two cubs who discovered that the best way to clean the roof of a Land Rover was to climb on the roof.
So a big thank you to all of the Cubs, Scouts and Beavers who came out to help the group; to all of the parents who came along to support them and to the patrons of Slimbridge who entrusted them with their cars.
