Dursley Town Games
Saturday 7th May
It was a shame that weather discouraged many people attending this well organised, fun event. After the initial registration in the sports hall, children were free to try all the sports on offer. Various demonstrations took place throughout the day such as Karate and Tae Kwon-Do and, as the weather improved some of the activities moved back out on to the recreation field. This improved the sales of refreshments, and the consumption of tea and cake (at the 1st Dursley Scout refreshment tent!) steadily increased throughout the day.
Cricket, table tennis, climbing, rugby, football, horse riding, tennis and athletics were the other sports on offer and various tournaments and matches were played as a result of the taster sessions trials. There was always an encouraging face to welcome the children at their chosen activity, and I would thoroughly recommend putting the date in your diary for next year kids.
