Ruthie our Cub leader and I, Mark the Group Scout Leader were present at the Lions Den Dursley to receive a cheque towards our funds.  We were met at the door by one of the Lions Officials who ran through things, things like who should we make the cheque payable to, after the awards a buffet etc. O and free drinks for Guests!!!  Ruthie and I settled on a fruit J20!

We were later joined by Peter Tootle just as the Lions were running through how much Beer and Cider they sold at the Frocester Beer Festival not to mention the hot dogs and burgers.  It was then we found out that the cheque was coming from the profits of the Festival and that nine charities were each to receive a cheque.  Charities like the Red Cross, Winstons Wish, the Guides and Hutchinson Society all very well know and all doing excellent work in the community.

I am pretty sure we were called last and Ruthie and I did the hand shaking for photos and I gave a brief thank you speech.  We returned to our table and I opened the envelope and that’s when the shock hit me, I showed Ruthie the cheque and she immediately said that cannot be right, but it was right.  The Lions had donated to our growing Group the sum of £2000.00.

Mere words are unable to express our thanks to the Lions but we are very grateful and humbled by their very kind and generous donation.
