1st Dursley Scouts is one of the oldest Scout Groups in the country. The Group started in 1908 only one year after Baden-Powell started the Scouting movement. We are very proud and honoured to have had his grandson as a guest at our centenary celebrations in 2008.
We are a very active Group with thriving Beavers, Cubs and Scouts sections. We like to think that we provide traditional scouting and yet embrace modern times. The reason why Scouting remains the largest youth movement in the world is that it’s got great core values: it’s faith, it’s about friendship, it’s about fun and so much of who we are as an adult is formed when we are kids. As our Chief Scout Bear Grylls said “Every child has the right to an adventure. Life is about grabbing opportunities. The prizes don’t always go to the biggest, the best and the strongest – they go to those who persevere. These are simple life lessons that Scouting teaches.”
