Huge Success at the Dursley Town Festival

This year the theme of the Dursley Carnival Procession was The Circus. Cherry was dressed up as the ring master and Emma was a clown. All the sections were represented and the judges were obviously very impressed because...

... we won First Prize!

Well done everyone!

After the procession everyone needed some refreshments. What better place to have this than at the 1st Dursley Scout Group tea and cake tent! With our new banner out in front, tables laid out with tablecloths and flowers and cakes baked by parents, we attracted lots of customers. We made £276.30, which was £50 more than last year. New Badge and New Banner

1st Dursley Scout Group Gets a New Badge

A competition was held recently to design a badge especially for the 1st Dursley Scout Group. We had many excellent entries from young members and we congratulate all the entrants on the quality of their drawings which made choosing a winner very difficult. Judging was done by the Executive Committee.

The winner was Sam Tucker. Many congratulatons to him and to the runner up, Travis Williams.

The badge shows a Pederson bicycle, closely associated with Dursley, and a Roman spear above it, paying tribute to the Roman connection in the area.

We hope to have badges made in time for the start of next term for all our young members. The badge will also be included it in our letter headings.

Finally, we have recently had a large banner made that incorporates the new badge. This will be put up at many of the events and camps that we go to and will tell everyone that the 1st Dursley Scouts have arrived! The first time the banner will be on public display will be at the Dursley Festival on 17 July. You can see it here first though.

HQ Clean Up

Sunday 25th July (2 weeks on Sunday)

10am - 2pm (ish)

It's time for the HQ Annual Clean.

Please could you to spare some of your time, to help make the surroundings your children use every week, as nice as possible, ready for their return in September?

There will be Teas, coffees and other refreshments available for the workers.

If you are willing to help, please let us know!

Please help if you can, even if it is only for ½ an hour, every bit helps.

Tools and equipment will be provided.
